ASUS ROG unveils most compact 17" gaming laptop

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced Strix SCAR II (GL704), the latest 17.3-inch addition to the ROG Strix gaming laptop lineup.

This has an industry-leading 17.3-inch display — with a 144Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, and complete sRGB coverage — into a 15.7-inch chassis, delivering immersive visuals while allowing for greater mobility.

Strix SCAR II GL704 is equipped the latest 8th Generation Intel processors — up to Core i7-8750H — and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU with 6GB of video RAM. Strix SCAR II also includes ROG RangeBoost technology, which intelligently utilizes additional antennas to extend Wi-Fi range.

Tesla Canada suing Ontario government for selectively denying customer incentives

Tesla Canada is suing the Ontario provincial government forllowing the cancellation of EV incentives for buyers of the all-electric Tesla vehicles. The PC govermnent under Doug Ford shut down numerous progressive EV and Hydrogen vehicle incentives. The move was done to ostensibly bring down the price of fuel in the province.

The province claims cancelling the cap-and-trade program will help it achieve its goal of bringing gas prices down by 10 cents a litre and cutting costs for Ontarians by $1.9 billion per year. This move cuts incentives wirth thousands of dollars to Canadians opting to buy an electric car, hybrid or hydrogen car.

Tesla Canada, which sells the most premium and luxurious EVs, feels it has been singled out. The company says customers of competing EV and hybrid car manufacturers can still avail of on substantial rebates on electric car purchases.

The cancelled program offered rebates of up to $14,000 on qualifying vehicles, so long as they were under $75,000. Tesla Canada claims the government "deliberately and arbitrarily" excluded its customers, while providing no warning or the chance to offer any input.

Motorola’s newest smartphone looks like an iPhone X in Huawei colors

What could be considered derivative or a knock-off, could also just mean another option. The newest device Motorola launched in China looks nearly identical to the iPhone X in colors that reminds us of Huawei’s P20 devices. The Motorola P30 can be mistaken for an iPhone X from behind except the Motorola logo replaces the Apple logo and this one doubles as a fingerprint sensor, too. It comes in a color that looks like the “Twilight” version of the P20 with the blues that shift into purples, but Motorola is calling it “Aurora.” As mentioned, it is coming to China first before it launches outside of the country.

The P30 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, 6GB of RAM, and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Lenovo’s ZUI 4.0 interface over it. It has a 6.2-inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 2,246 x 1,080 resolution. It has a dual rear camera setup with 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors and a 12-megapixel selfie camera. It also comes with a 3,000mAh battery and 64GB or 128GB storage options. If you’re not a fan of the Aurora colour, it also comes in black or white. It’s expected to hit stores in China on September 15^th and will cost US$303 or $360 (around CA$400 to $475), depending on storage option.

Nintendo Switch will get ‘Diablo 3’

It’s official. Diablo 3: Eternal Collection is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Blizzard Entertainment announced that this game, which comes with the Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer add-ons, will be available later this year for US$59.99 (almost CA$80). The game will come with a number of Nintendo-exclusive items, which will be unlocked from the start. These items are based on The Legend of Zelda and include a Ganondorf-inspired cosmetic armor, Triforce character portrait frame, Cucco pet (the chickens of The Legend of Zelda franchise), and a pair of Majora’s Mask-inspired wings.

Diablo 3 on the Switch brings the game experience to the console. You can play solo or in groups of up to four players online or via local wireless multiplayer modes. Up to four people can play on a single Switch console. The game will have everything from a full campaign, replayable Adventure mode, themed seasons, and seven character classes.
