Google tests horizontal tab switcher for its Chrome app on Android

One of the biggest changes Google is implementing in Android P is the horizontal orientation of the recent apps switcher. It seems this design change is making its way to the Chrome app on Android, too. The latest update to Chrome Canary (the unstable version of Chrome) shows a horizontal tab switcher, letting you see more of the page as you swipe left or right. You can close tabs by swiping up and down.

One of the other new things in Chrome includes how you interact with Incognito tabs. You can tap on the incognito icon in the upper right corner to open all of them. If you want to switch back, you just need to tap the icon again. If you want to try this out before the official Chrome app gets it, you’ll need to install the Chrome Canary app from Google Play and then bring out the flags by typing chrome://flags in the search box, find the #enable-horizontal-tab-switcher and then enable it.

Location sharing on Snapchat is easier with Snap Maps update

If you still use Snapchat to communicate with friends, you’ll appreciate what Snap has done with the Snap Maps feature. This feature, which by default is turned off for sharing for everyone, can now be shared on an individual basis. This means you can request a location or share yours with specific people in Chat. All you need to do is look for your friend’s name and you’ll find the options to do either there. This will let both of you appear on each other’s Snap Maps. An important note is this only works with bi-directional friends so you can’t request or share your location with a celebrity or influencer you follow.

If you want to remove a friend’s access to your location, you can do so any time within Chat or through Snap Maps. And if a user shared their location but hasn’t opened the map in eight hours, they will disappear from the map. And if you want to disappear yourself, you can just enter Ghost Mode (which sets your location to private).

If you’re a huge fan of the Pokemon franchise, you might want to check out this new fan-made game. Phoenix Rising is an episodic game made with RPG Maker XP and Pokemon Essentials engine. It’s a free game that will get its subsequent releases announced in the future. The demo a.k.a. the first episode that was just released is also free. The developers hope that by keeping the game free, not asking for donations, and having an official site, among other things, will keep The Pokemon Company won’t issue a Cease & Desist order. The company is known to shut down fan-made projects. Now whether the precautions taken by this game’s developers is enough, we should find out soon enough.
