Sing and dance along to your timer with Humming Timing

This new iOS timer isn’t just going to count down things for you, it’ll do it to the tune of some of your favorite songs. Humming Timing just lets you set the timer down to the second and just press “Go.” It will then select tunes from your music library that will match the designated time. If the timer is set for longer than the usual song duration, it will then just create a playlist for you. The app is up for free download here.

Find out what your Android reader apps know about you

Matt Bernius took stock of what the Android reader applications have been taking from its users and found that we might be giving these apps more than we bargained for. About a quarter of them require location information access; some gain a list of other running apps; and half ask for “phone state and identity,” which gives them access to your phone and IMEI number.

Gizmodo reports Android app permissions currently work on a “take it or leave it” basis and won’t let you select what you’d want to share with an app. You can view the chart in full size from here.
