MasterCard Canada calls on female developers to Master the Code

MasterCard Canada is encouraging all female professional and student developers to participate in its MasterCard N>XT developer challenge.  A recent Statistics Canada study found that while Canada is seeing an increase in the number of young women with university degrees in computer science programs, men still hold the majority of degrees within this field[1].  The challenge is an opportunity for women to apply their technology skills to a business challenge that could influence the future of payments.  MasterCard N>XT, co-sponsored by Rogers and CIBC, is the first payment network developer challenge in Canada and will be held at the MaRS Discovery District.

Canadian industrial designers OHM make sure Apple's EarPods stick with Sprng clips

Apple's Earpods are the best headphones that the iPhone and iPod maker has shipped, but they're not perfect for everyone since some people can't keep them in their ears. Thankfully users don't have to replace them, simply snap on a pair of Canadian designed Sprng clips to make them stay put.

“With all the millions of earpods that Apple gives away with their products, it would be a shame if people did not use them because they fall out. Accordingly, we decided to make an inexpensive accessory that wouldn’t distract from the clean look of the Earpods but kept them in your ears," the designers say.

The Sprng clips simply snaps on to the Earpod stem and can be adjusted to fit by sliding it up and down. The tip of the clip is made of elastomer, which snaps into the concha of the ear that holds the earpod in place with little pressure. They are available from OHM for $10 a pair.
