WhatsApp makes it easier to send messages to yourself

WhatsApp rolls out a new feature that makes it easier to send yourself messages, whether those are reminders or shopping lists. The aptly named Message Yourself feature makes your account visible at the top of the contact list when creating new messages. If you click on that, you can send yourself messages, reminders, shopping lists, and anything you need to remember. From what we understand, you can set notifications for it. And you can pin your Message Yourself chats to the top of the conversation list for easier access. The Meta-owned messaging app has started to roll this feature out globally to Android and iOS users.

Nothing phone (1) update can show you AirPods battery level

Source: Nothing

Nothing phone (1)'s latest update (version 1.1.7 update) adds improvements to this Android phone, including support for AirPods. It can show you the battery percentage of Apple AirPods you may connect to this phone. The update also includes the November Android security patch, more accurate battery status, improved OS fluidity and reduced stutters, better audio quality when recording videos, and an adjustment to the thermal threshold, so there's better balance performance and temperature.

Similar to the Nothing ear (1) earbuds that gained Siri support, the phone (1) update continues Nothing CEO Carl Pei's intentions of making Nothing devices work with different products and accessories.

'Avatar: The Way of Water' gets a new trailer

We get to see more of James Cameron's fantastical sequel to the 2009 epic, Avatar. A new trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water just dropped, reminding us why this film may be worth its rumoured US$250 million budget. Avatar 2 is "set more than a decade after the events of the first film" and, "tells the story of the Sully family, the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure."

We don't get much in terms of the plot with this new trailer, but it offers a good look at Sam Worthington's Jake Sully, a man who left his human body behind to become one of the Na'vi blue aliens from the original blockbuster. The film also brings back Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver (albeit in a different role) and includes Kate Winslet, among others.

Google ends support for Keep, Maps on Wear OS 2

Google has unceremoniously ended support for Keep and Maps on Wear OS 2 smartwatches. That means, if you reset your older wearable, you won't get to access these apps again. The most recent version of Keep on the Google Pixel Watch is 5.22.452.00.97, and it only supports Android 11 or higher. (Wear OS 2 is based on Android 9, which falls behind the latest version of Keep.) Maps also seems to limit its requirements to the latest version of Wear OS. The change might seem premature as most Wear OS smartwatches are still on Wear OS 2, but it seems Google wants to move to Wear OS 3 as soon as possible.
