Spotify finally adds new podcast episode notifications

Spotify continues to build on its podcast offerings with this new small update. The streaming service is now rolling out mobile push notifications for new podcast episodes. If you've been waiting for this feature, head to the podcast you want and make sure you're following the program. You will then get the option to "get notified of new episodes."

When you select this option, a notification will head your way every time the podcast you follow releases a new episode. The feature is available for both free and premium users.

Integrated Shazam control comes to new iOS 14.2 beta

It's been two years since Apple acquired Shazam, and now it's putting its technology to use. The latest version of iOS 14.2 beta adds Shazam's Music Recognition in the Control Center panel. When the feature is enabled, it can recognize the audio playing on internal or external audio sources. For example, it can identify a song playing through your AirPods—a feature the Android version got last year.

If you're running the beta, you should see the Shazam button in the Control Center already. All you need to do is press on the button. It isn't clear why it took Apple this long to integrate the feature better late than never, we guess.

'Fortnite: Save the World' will no longer work on macOS starting Sept. 23

The latest casualty in the ongoing legal battle between Apple and Epic Games is the castle-building, players vs. zombies version of Fortnite called Fortnite: Save the World. It will no longer work on macOS starting September 23. Fortnite: Save the World also stopped receiving updates when Apple cut off Epic's access to its developer account where it manages its games. Epic blames Apple for preventing them from distributing updates to the game, which will cause bugs in the future.

Epic will refund all players who bought any Save the World Founder's or Starter Packs (including Upgrades) and played the game on macOS between September 17, 2019, and September 17, 2020. According to Epic, any purchased V-Bucks spent on Llamas on macOS will also be refunded. Starter packs are no longer available for purchase on macOS. The developer cautions that it might take up to October 2, 2020, to receive the refunds. But there's no action needed from your end.
