Instagram will now let public accounts share Instagram Story posts that mention you

A new minor update to both iOS and Android Instagram apps will let you repost Instagram Stories you’ve been tagged in. If you have a public account, you will get a DM from the person that links to that Story post. You then get an option to share that post to your own Instagram Story. When you opt to share, you’ll be redirected to your Story editor page letting you do the usual editing you’d do for any other story you post. The name of the original poster is seen at the top, letting people tap on the account and view their profile.

Another Wear OS-powered LG smartwatch shows up at the FCC

It seems LG is gearing up to launch a couple of new smartwatches. The latest one, as seen in FCC documents, is given the model name LM-W319. It’s a Wear OS-based smartwatch with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support. No mention of cellular connectivity, though. Not much else can be gleaned from the document but last month another LG smartwatch with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi but no cellular connectivity also appeared at the FCC. This was given the model name LM-W315. Both models have been listed on LG’s OpenSource Code Distribution center and are listed as mobile devices that can run Android Oreo and Wear OS.

Android Authority speculates this could be variants of the rumoured LG Watch Timepiece, a smartwatch that has analog watch hands over the digital screen. It will reportedly have a 1.2-inch circular display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 processor, 4GB of storage, IP68 dust and water-resistance rating, and a 240mAh battery. The LG Watch Timepiece is rumoured to be coming to South Korea this month with an international release to follow. We just have to wait and see then.

‘Fallout 76’ is an online survival game set for November 14th release

Bethesda just announced more details about its latest entry into the Fallout franchise. Fallout 76 is going to be an online-based, open-world, survival game where every person you encounter in the game is an actual person. The game is scheduled to come out on November 14th and instead of pulling hundreds or thousands of players, it’s going to pull in dozens—which makes sense since this is a post-apocalyptic game after all.

Serving as a prequel to the entire series, Fallout 76 takes place in West Virginia and follows survivors of the nuclear apocalypse as they exit bunker, Vault 76. You’ll be tasked to rebuild your town—and the entire country—after Reclamation Day in year 2076. You will be able to take over nuclear launch facilities to launch missiles against rival gangs or unknown territories. There are six distinct West Virginia regions in the game and a CAMP (Construction Assembly Mobile Platform) system is in place to make it easier to build shelters while on the go.

Facebook promises to scale back on ‘you are now connected’ Messenger reminders

With digital health and phone addiction a hot button item right now, things like constant notifications popping up are seen as ways to prolong use of apps and services. Facebook is seen as a bit of an offender in this respect. With two separate apps—for Messenger and the main Facebook app—we get tons of notifications from them, and some, as some users have complained, are “useless.” An example is the “You are now connected on Messenger” alert. It seems Facebook is hearing the complaints of users and are saying they’re going to cut back on these unnecessary reminders with the help of machine learning.

"We've found that many people have appreciated getting a notification when a friend joins Messenger." A representative said to TechCrunch. "That said, we are working to make these notifications even more useful by employing machine learning to send fewer of them over time to people who enjoy getting them less."
