Leaked image shows the Lumia smartphone that could have been

Microsoft has dropped out of the mobile hardware space with its Lumia 550, 650, 950 and 950 XL as the last models a few years ago. A leaked image of a Lumia prototype gives us a glimpse of where Microsoft was headed. Outfitted with a Snapdragon 820 processor, 23 megapixel camera and an aluminium unibody the prototype, outed on Baidu, shows a departure from the Lumia design playbook.

Word has it that Microsoft hasn't given up on its own mobile devices, specially now that the Surface brand is gaining ground in notebooks and tablets, it may be a good time to introduce a new Windows 10 smartphone.

Various banks and payments institutions welcome the arrival of Android Pay in Canada

Paper money and coins are inconvenient and time consuming ways to pay. Canadians have long embraced using debit and credit tap-to-pay systems. With the announcement earlier today that Android Pay is available in Canada. Various credit and payment institutions have welcomed the arrival of Android Pay.

Android Pay works at hundreds of thousands of shops that accept contactless payments, like Tim Hortons, Loblaws, Petro-Canada, McDonald’s, Indigo, Pizza Pizza, Sears Canada and in TELUS, Rogers, and Freedom Mobile retail stores. Just tap with your phone as you would with your participating credit, debit or prepaid card.

Android Pay comes to Canada starting today

Google's mobile payment platform, Android Pay, is now available in Canada. Currently supported by BMO, CIBC, Banque Nationale, Scotiabank, Desjardins, President’s Choice Financial, ATB Financial, and Canadian Tire Financial Services will work with Android Pay on devices running Android KitKat 4.4 or higher. 

"Today Android Pay will be rolled out into Canada with support with all the major banks in Canada. Not just payments but also loyalty cards, tickets and personal artifacts,"  said Spencer Spinell, Director of emerging platforms for Google. Hit jump for the full story.

Apple WWDC app gets new features ahead of the event

With Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference coming up next week, the tech company updated its WWDC app to add a slew of new features. This includes a new red icon for the app, iMessage app stickers, curated, thematic video playlists, interactive venue and street maps, and venue information. And you don’t even have to be signed in to use all the app’s features. If you’re heading to WWDC, it might be a good idea to download the app.
