Mastercard gets regulatory approval to acquire VocaLink

Mastercard received approval fromm the UK’s Competition & Markets Authority’for the completion of the company’s planned acquisition of VocaLink Holdings Limited. The CMA gave final approval for the proposed set of remedies that address the competition concerns the CMA identified earlier this year. The deal is now expected to close in the coming weeks.

“We believe the future of payments will be defined by choice,” said Michael Miebach, chief product officer, Mastercard. “Adding bank account-based payments alongside our card network extends what we can do and how we can do it. Together, we’ll be one partner to meet all payment needs of businesses, governments and consumers.”

SickKids Hospital highlights strength in Moms in latest campaign

The Hospital for Sick Children (aka SickKids) in Toronto is somewhere you don't want to visit unless you need to...but also find comfort in knowing it's there. I've had my fair share of visits filled with worry, sleepless nights and raging tears...as a child, mom, friend, and volunteer. But each time I am eternally grateful with the compassion, care, and patience of doctors, nurses, and staff, as well as the state of the art facilities.This world-renowned hospital is a very special place. 

As Mother's Day approaches, SickKids has launched a new SickKids VS campaign (created by Cossette Canada) to honour moms. The concept called "Breakdown" continues to feature the fierceness of their patience, families and staff.

Here’s our first look at ‘Thor: Ragnarok’

It’s over the top and crazy. As what we’ve gotten accustomed to when it comes to Marvel films. But with this set outside of Earth, Thor: Ragnarok is looking more fantastical. The first trailer for the latest Thor film shows us life after Hela, the Goddess of Death, destroys Mjolnir and invades Asgard. The God of Thunder is suddenly left without a home, a new look, and what looks like a showdown with Hulk. It’s all mighty exciting and we can’t wait for November when the film comes out. 

Google Home could be getting multi-user support soon

One of the downsides of Google Home speaker is it’s tied to one account but that might change soon. A new card has been spotted in the Discover tab that hints at multi-user support coming to the home assistant and offering different users a more personalized experience with it. As Android Central reports, there doesn’t seem to be any functionality to it yet. But it does give us hope that Google Home will be getting a slew of new features and its coming soon.
