Apple joins Wireless Charging Consortium, fuels speculation on new iPhones

Every move Apple makes is a seismic one in the industry and usually a hint of things to come or a glimpse on what the company is working on next. Apple has reportedly joined the Wireless Charging Consortium, lending credence to the possibility that upcoming iPhones and possibly iPads will be able to use wireless charging technology.

While wireless charging has been available for smartphones for a long time now, Apple has resisted in putting the technology in its iOS devices. Although the Apple Watch has always been charged using an inductive charger, iPhones and iPads have solely relied on Lightning connectors.

Dyson opens new $561 million Technology Centre in Singapore

James Dyson today opened the doors to Dyson’s new Technology Centre in Singapore, in the presence of Minister for Trade and Industry, S. Iswaran.

Dyson is investing $561 million (£330m) in its future in Singapore. The new facility has the latest development labs, bringing together cutting-edge hardware and software expertise. Dyson plans to grow the Singapore-based engineering team by 50 per cent. Located in the heart of Singapore’s start-up community and next to the National University of Singapore, the new Centre’s engineering teams will focus on developing new technologies for the future.
