A fifth Samsung Galaxy Note7 burns in the US

While there are many units of Samsung Galaxy Note7 out on the market, that doesn’t discount that there are already five reported cases of Note7 units going up in flames in the US. This time, Daniel Franks from Houston, Texas says his unit caught on fire while on the table when he was having lunch with his daughter and wife. The unit was replaced at a Best Buy store in late September. Franks says he couldn’t imagine what would’ve happened if his daughter, who regularly plays Minecraft on the device, was using it.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has said it’s “moving expeditiously” to investigate these cases but perhaps there needs to be more haste. Samsung also said it’s investigating the fires but haven’t determined yet if a “product safety issue exists.” Samsung says it’s “working diligently” to determine if a safety issue exists and will take immediate steps approved by CPSC to resolve the situation. It must be time though to be extra diligent with those Note7 units you might have.

‘Power Rangers’ reboot gets first teaser

It’s almost morphin time and we’re reminded of that thanks to the first teaser trailer for an upcoming Power Rangers movie. Teased at the New York City Comic Con, this Lionsgate film shows five troubled teens discovering powers from a meteorite. Think of it as the franchise entering the YA adventure film genre. And yes, we expect this to be a franchise. The iconic suits were only put on display until the last minute of the trailer. The film is expected to come out on March 24, 2017. Is this something you think you’d watch?

Facebook can now be your calendar app, too

It’s not all that surprising that Facebook now has an app to help you manage Facebook events. And if you rely on this heavily, the social network wants to keep you in its ecosystem—even for your non-Facebook events. There is now a new Events app on iOS launched in the US. It shows you an overview of your upcoming Facebook events as well as your regular iCloud calendar (if you enable it, that is). You can give or revoke access to Events for your regular Calendar events. If you’re on Android and you want this app, Facebook is currently working on a version for you.
