Uber fixes ETA privacy flaw that showed full trip details online

A glitch in Uber’s Share my ETA feature has allowed some users trips to be searchable on Google long after the journey’s complete. Share my ETA lets you share on social media or through private messaging the real-time progress of your trip. Thankfully, Uber finally fixed the flaw. If you searched “trip.uber.com” before it displayed dozens of trips that showed quite an extensive list of information including pickup and destination addresses, route traveled, driver’s name and car, rating, and the name of the rider. Luckily, the credit card information wasn’t displayed there.

Uber told Business Insider the links for Share My ETA are now set to expire 48 hours after they’re generated. The publicly available pages that are still in existence have also been erased. However, the user’s address is still available during the 48 hour window so be careful who you share your information with.

Panasonic reviving popular Technics turntable line with new direct drive motor

Panasonic Corporation announced that it will exhibit a direct drive1 analog turntable prototype equipped with a newly developed direct drive motor at the IFA 20152 trade fair to be held in Berlin from September 4 to 9, 2015. Panasonic is accelerating further development of this technology with a view to market launch in 2016 under the Technics hi-fi audio brand.

In conventional analog turntables, sound quality degradation caused by tiny vibrations of the motor and rotational speed fluctuations has been a major challenge. To overcome this challenge and assure smooth, highly-stable rotation, Panasonic has developed a new direct drive motor and redesigned high-precision motor control technology. This makes it possible to reproduce the warm sound and subtle nuances of musical expression engraved in the analog record grooves.

Airbnb gets Apple Watch support on iOS

Airbnb app is making it easier for its users to get in touch with each other with the latest update. The version 15.35 of the app on iOS adds support for Apple Watch. It allows hosts to receive new bookings on their wearable. It’ll show them the complete request including the traveler’s name and photo, requested date, and personal message. Hosts can decide to accept or reject the request on the spot. It also allows hosts to initiate and respond to client messages from the Watch. Hosts are also allowed to save quick, pre-recorded responses to help maintain what Airbnb calls a healthy response rate.
