Microsoft engineer teases potential gamechanger from Windows Phone

Microsoft looks like they are cooking up something special for its Windows Phone platform. But they aren’t saying too much about it. According to Jerry Berg, senior software development engineer in test at Microsoft, there are some great things ahead for the brand. Berg said during a Geek Lifestyles podcast: “You want to hear a cool teaser though. Just wait for it…something is going to happen in the Windows Phone space that will upset the entire world across everything.”

Some speculate that Berg is talking about the rumoured Nokia McLaren Windows Phone device, which will reportedly be the company’s new flagship device. It will have a more powerful camera than the Lumia 1020 as well as gesture recognition that takes out the needs for buttons to interact with the phone.

BlackBerry refuses to give up, opens "Fact Check” portal

BlackBerry might be hanging on by its threads but that doesn’t mean they won’t be putting up a fight. The company has just launched a new portal they call “BlackBerry Fact Check.” It is designed to counter the “smoke and mirrors marketing tactics” of its competitors and give their users facts. The portal contains good news about BlackBerry products and it encourages loyal BlackBerry users out there to let them know if their competitors are releasing any “work of fiction.” If you are still loyal to the brand, is this still something you’d like to check out?

Four more GM safety recall involves half a million vehicles, 57,000 in Canada

GM has issued four other recalls today involving 500,000 vehicles, 57,000 in Canada. This time around the affected models are 467,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups from the 2014 and 2015 model years, the 2015 Sierra Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and the 2015 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. More than 53,000 of these recalled vehicles were said to be sold in Canada.

GM says the transmission on recalled vehicle may electronically switch into neutral on its own. "If this occurs while a vehicle is in motion, no power will go to the wheels." Needless to say, this is a cause for great concern. GM's adds that if the vehicle is stopped or parked, it may roll away if the parking brake is not set. The automaker says it knows of no crashes or injuries related to the issue. This latest wave of recalls add up to 48t announced this year alone. Overall, the recalls affect more than 20 million vehicles of various model years, which is more than the number of cars GM sold in the U.S. in all of 2013.
