Facebook update downgrades text updates for Pages

Facebook wants Page owners to share other types of updates aside from text updates with a new tweak. Facebook’s News Feed Ranking Product Manager Chris Turitzin said in a blog post the social network changed the algorithm of the News Feed to downgrade text updates from Pages because they don’t do as well as text updates from friends.

The company encourages a more visual approach and wants Page owners to post links as they “get more engagement (more likes, comments, shares and clicks) and they provide a more visual and compelling experience for people seeing them in their feeds.”

VLC introduces new iOS app with multi-touch gesture support

VLC has updated its media player app to the iOS market to conform to the iOS 7 look and add new multi-touch gesture support. The new user interface works in line with the changes Apple made to its UI and included gestures such as horizontal swipe for playback position, vertical swipe to the left to adjust brightness, vertical swipe to the right to adjust volume, and two finger tap to play or pause the video.

You can now also stream and download videos from Dropbox or download videos from Google Drive. You can also delete multiple items and rename any media in the library view. You can download VLC over here.
