Google's Nexus 4 coming in white

LG has just announced that a white variant of the Nexus 4 will be coming soon. Starting in Hong Kong on May 29, Nexus 4 White will roll out globally in select markets in Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East over the next several weeks. Like the black version, LTE functionality will also be disabled out of the box.

“Nexus 4 set the standard for Android 4.2 Jelly Bean smartphones,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. “Nexus 4 White delivers the same Google experience to consumers in a stylish and attractive color option.”

Nexus 4 White features the same specs as the black version including a 4.7-inch 1280-by-768 True HD IPS Plus display (320ppi) supported by Zerogap Touch technology. At its heart is the high performing Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM.

WeatherSignal crowdsources weather using Android phones’ sensors

Most weather apps make use of static stations around cities to get you weather information. With WeatherSignal app for Android, it makes use of your phone’s sensors to get atmospheric results and even ambient temperature, in some cases. It can determine precipitation, air pressure, and the like. For some phones, humidity can be measured, too.

WeatherSignal also makes use of Google’s new Activity Recognition API to keep track of the kind of activity you’re doing as well as the state of the air and your acceleration. Mentor: Do what you want

This isn’t an app to put your grocery or errand list on. Mentor is more a platform that keeps track of what you want to do, your goals, dreams, etc. It aims to help people achieve what they want to—such as adopting a healthier diet, studying a new language—and makes use of social context by having a community of people “mentor” each other.

Digg Reader to launch in June

We join you in mourning the loss of Google Reader but it’s time we all move on to alternatives. Digg has finally announced its version at last week’s Internet Week New York. CEO Andrew McLaughlin said the platform would be called Digg Reader and it would be incorporated into Digg instead of it being a separate app. This RSS reader is set to come out in June and it will let users “sort and rank” content, feature a clean look, and be designed with speed in mind.
