Google Meet adds more shared experiences, multi-pinning

Source: Google

Google Meet's latest update brings a few useful features, including more live-sharing features and a way to stay focused on group calls. The app will now let you co-watch YouTube videos and play classic games (like UNO!™ MobileKahoot!, or Heads Up!) with up to 100 friends and family members simultaneously. This feature is coming to both Android phones and tablets.

And if you're in a meeting where you need to pay attention to specific people, Google Meet now supports multi-pinning. As the name suggests, you can pin specific users so they stay at the top of your screen.

Gboard update allows keyboard to automatically chose emoji placements

Source: Google

Sometimes things are better expressed in emojis, at least I think so. And Google wants to make this process easier for Gboard users. It's introducing an "emojify" button on its keyboard. When you type out your sentence, hit the button and watch it shuffle through preferred emojis and their layout before sending your reply. The feature is now available in the beta version of the app in English and is expected to roll out to all users in the coming weeks.

Google has also added new Emoji Kitchen mashups for the season. This seasonal update brings what it says are the "best parts of fall to share with your Northern Hemisphere friends." Yes, that includes a pumpkin-spiced emoji.

Apple to charge CA$129 for iPhone 14 battery replacements

Source: Apple

If you want to get the new iPhone 14's battery replaced, that's going to cost a bit more than getting repairs for older iPhone models. While the battery replacement fee is $89 for older iPhones, the fee for the new iPhones will go for $129. This payment includes the cost of a new battery and service by an Apple Store or an Apple Repair Center. Replacement fees may vary if you go through a third-party Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Those who got AppleCare+ can get your iPhone 14 battery replaced for free, but the battery needs to retain 80% of its original capacity.

Google makes it easier to share files with yourself on Nearby Share

Google is making it easier to transfer files between your Android devices. The company is updating its Nearby Share feature with a new self-share option. It will allow you to share files by selecting from the list of Android devices logged into the same Google Account.

Right now, Nearby Share requires approval for file transfers. This update removes that extra step and allows file sharing with a single tap. Google plans to roll this feature out in the coming weeks.
