'Gran Turismo' movie is coming in 2023

Source: Sony

Sony has confirmed its Gran Turismo movie. It'll premiere on August 11, 2023, under the direction of District 9 helmer Neill Blomkamp. The film will be based on the real-life adventures of a player of the racing game. Sony describes the film as a true story based on the "ultimate wish fulfilment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race car driver." The racing game series has been around since 1997, and there isn't any plot or characters to follow, so this approach makes sense. Whether you'd want to see this game adapted to the big screen is a different conversation altogether.

Nothing reveals phone (1) design

Source: Nothing

Tech startup Nothing has something to show us once again. The company is teasing its first smartphone, the aptly called phone (1). It has a sort of transparent back with the wireless charging coil kind of visible. There's a dual-camera setup on the top left and a small Nothing logo on the bottom. There are some light-up strips around the charging coil and camera, which should be intriguing to see in person.

Nothing says in what comes off as marketing speak that the phone (1) is "Designed with intention. Full of warmth. And joy." From looking at this phone's back, it seems to have flat sides with the volume rocker on the left and the power button on the other side. Nothing says this device is made with consciously chosen materials. We will learn more about this during its launch on July 12 or possibly in the weeks leading up to it.

Base iPad model rumoured to get USB-C, larger display

The base Apple iPad model might finally get a tech upgrade. Rumours claim its next iteration will switch from having a Lightning port to USB-C when it launches in the fall. This will allow you to plug it directly into supported monitors and other peripherals and improve wired data transfer speeds. If the reports are accurate, there will no longer be an iPad with a Lightning port, which would be a welcome refresh.

Aside from this, the iPad will reportedly get a larger display with the exact resolution as the iPad Air. Of course, the image quality won't be the same, but if you've just been looking for a larger screen, here's an option to consider. This iPad will supposedly have the fourth-generation Air's A14 Bionic processor and 5G support for the cellular variants. It's unclear if the design will change or if it gets support for the Magic Keyboard or second-generation Pencil.
