Square Photo Studio app wants to help businesses take product shots on mobile

Square has a new mobile app designed to make it easier for Canadian businesses to get better product shots right from their smartphones. The Square Photo Studio app offers easy-to-follow prompts for taking the best photo. It can then isolate the product from its background so you can choose from the provided backgrounds, shadows, and colours.

You can then easily link these images to your Square catalogue or create a new item for selling. But the app isn't limited to Square sellers. Anyone with products to sell can snap and style a photo and then sell it with a Square Online Checkout link. The Square Photo Studio app is available on the Apple App Store.

Instagram starts rolling out live test of 60-second Stories

Instagram was spotted testing longer videos for its Stories. And now, it looks like a live test is being conducted. If this feature goes live, longer clips shared in the Stories will no longer be split into 15-second segments.  According to Instagram, the company is testing this option with a small group of users. The goal is to streamline the app's different video tools and functions, which Social Media Today pointed out will need to compete against TikTok.

Amazon reportedly wants to develop a 'Mass Effect' TV show

EA/BioWare

Amazon Studios' next fantasy series might be based on Electronic Arts and BioWare's Mass Effect franchise. There are no details about this rumour. But Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke told Deadline it is "continuing to invest in fantasy genre of all kinds, we have a genre-focused team on the ground in Studios who work tirelessly with our creative partners on those slates, and you can look forward to more."

This isn't the first rumour about the franchise, though. EA recently said the TV series is "not a matter of if, but when." The Witcher star Henry Cavill hinted at the series in a cryptic Instagram post earlier this year. If this rumour mill keeps turning, we might just hear more about it sooner than later.
