Samsung teases five new devices in new Unpacked teaser

We've already heard about what devices Samsung plans to launch during Unpacked on August 5. But now we get confirmation from the company through a teaser trailer for the event. We get to see the silhouettes of the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Tab S7, Galaxy Buds Live, and the Galaxy Watch 3. Ahead of the event, Samsung revealed the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. And now we're just days away from learning about these new gadgets. Which one are you the most excited to see?

5G could change mobile gaming

Technology is always evolving and getting better, and this has led to a lot of improvement in our daily lives over the last two decades or so. The pace of technological advancement has been the fastest over this time period than at any point in human history, and this is set to continue in the foreseeable future as well. With this in mind, we can look at one of the most exciting developments in the mobile and internet space, and the impact this will have on various facets of our mobile usage.

5G is the next step in mobile internet speed, and is set to be launched in many countries across the world in the next few months. 4G was a gamechanger when it was introduced, and 5G will have an even bigger impact, since the speed and bandwidth provided will be at par with that of fixed cable internet connections. We could even see 5G internet be used as the primary internet source in many households, replacing their fixed-line and WiFi connections. This is bound to have a huge impact on how people consume content on their phones, and is likely to increase the amount of internet usage for people on their mobile devices.

Pixel 4a tipped to come out on August 3

After months of delays (partly due to COVID-19), the Google Pixel 4a might come out after all. Tech analyst Jon Prosser tweeted that the Pixel 4a will launch on August 3, just a couple of days before Samsung's Unpacked event. And as Prosser noted, do you even care that it's coming out? While Pixel devices are the only ones to get speedy Android updates, the line has been plagued with hardware issues. Is that enough for buyers to consider the new phone? Or is it too little too late for the Pixel 4a?

YouTube Music gets Android TV integration through YouTube app

It's a solution, but a hastily put together one, it seems. YouTube Music comes to Android TV through a server-side update that introduces a new Music tab in the app with YouTube Music's logo on it. It shows a lot of your regular YouTube recommendations and the content taken from your account. You'll get access to things like "Your likes" and playlists you've subscribed to, "Your mix," "Discover mix," some genre and mood stations, your playlists, artists stations based on your listening habits, and recommended playlists. And it has an instant playback function that starts when you highlight a mix, playlist or artist station. 

Beyond that, though, it's basic integration, lacking a lot of features that would be better introduced through a dedicated YouTube Music app. It doesn't offer background playback, shuffle or repeat, audio/video toggle, playlist management, full library access including to your uploaded music, and synchronized lyrics. Here's to hoping Google fixes these lapses and give its subscribers a better app to work with.
