Google Lookout app is now available in Canada

Google's app to help blind or low-vision individuals navigate the world is now available in Canada with many new features. Google Lookout draws upon the same technology used by Google Lens, allowing you to search and take action on objects around you by pointing your phone camera.

Lookout now has two new modes: Food Label and Scan Document. Food Label helps you identify packaged food. All you have to do is point your phone's camera at the label. The app will guide you to position the product so it can identify it either through the packaging or barcode. It can be useful for putting away groceries, and you want to make sure you're handling the right products and putting them in their proper places.

New iOS update gets rid of green tint on some iPhone 11 devices

A month after Apple released version 13.6 update for iOS and iPadOS comes version 13.6.1, which fixes some issues on the platforms, including a green tint that's been appearing on some iPhone 11 devices. The cause is reportedly a thermal management issue and triggered by an earlier update (likely iOS 13.4). The update resolves a problem that disabled Exposure Notifications for some users. It also got rid of the issue where unneeded system data files weren't automatically deleted when available storage is low.

The update size is 110MB, and it should be available through Settings > General > Software Update, or a notification for the update has been sent your way. This iOS 13 update might be the last one we'll see as Apple is expected to drop iOS 14 next month.

Google Clock brings Bedtime Mode, Sunrise Alarm to all Android phones

Two previous Pixel-exclusive features are coming to all Android phones. Bedtime Mode and Sunrise Alarm are making their way to the Google Clock app. If your app has updated, you should see a new Bedtime Mode tab at the bottom right of the app, which also houses the Sunrise Alarm feature. The feature lets you set the time you typically prefer to go to bed, and when you want to wake up.

Bedtime Mode can even play sleep sounds to condition you to wind down and rest. Your notifications will be silent, and emails and texts will be paused to remind you to shut off for the night. Meanwhile, Sunrise Alarm uses the light on your phone to gently wake you up in the mornings. And you can tweak the feature to set a Google Assistant routine to activate in the morning if you want.

If you have the Digital Wellbeing app and have an irregular schedule, it can trigger Bedtime Mode when you start charging your phone for the night.
