Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra running on Exynos spotted on Geekbench

Leaked image of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20

The deluge of Samsung-related rumours and leaks continue. The latest is on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra running on the improved Exynos 990 chipset, which was spotted on Geekbench. The device has the same SM-N986B model number, which was seen before. It comes with 12GB of RAM and runs on Android 10 (presumably skinned with One UI 2.5). It garnered 928 points in the single-core and 2,271 in the multi-core tests, which means its comparable with the Exynos-powered Galaxy S20 Ultra. But it falls behind devices running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor. What the Exynos chip promises to bring to the Note 20 line is better heat management and power efficiency, which should lead to more noticeable performance gains over the existing Exynos 990 processor. We're going to learn more about the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and other Samsung devices at the August 5 Unpacked event.

Google Play Console listing shows LG Velvet with Dimensity 800 chipset

While we are getting the LG Velvet 5G next month, it looks like there's a third variant of the smartphone. A Google Play Console listing shows the LG Velvet running on MediaTek's Dimensity 800 processor. Everything else about the phone seems to match the 5G and regular versions of the handset. According to the listing, it still has an FHD+ screen, 6GB of RAM, and Android 10. We're sure to hear more about the device if it launches.

Apple posts double-digit earnings of $39.7B behind products and services

Apple today posted their latest revenue results for its fiscal 2020 third quarter ended June 27, 2020. The iPhone maker posted quarterly revenue of $59.7 billion, an increase of 11 percent from the year-ago quarter, and quarterly earnings per diluted share of $2.58, up 18 percent. International sales accounted for 60 percent of the quarter’s revenue. Apple's strong earnings were representative of the technology sector which were the only bright lights during a day when the Dow (INDU) still closed down 0.9 percent, or 226 points, and the S&P 500 (SPX) fell 0.4 percent as a reflection of the current pandemic and unstable political climate in the US heading to the November presidential elections.

“Apple’s record June quarter was driven by double-digit growth in both Products and Services and growth in each of our geographic segments,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “In uncertain times, this performance is a testament to the important role our products play in our customers’ lives," said Apple CEO Tim Cook fresh off yesterday's congressional hearings on monopolies and anti-competitive practices in the tech industry.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G renders get leaked

It's not a tech event or a Samsung event unless most devices get leaked ahead of time. This time, we're getting a better look at Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G. MySmartPrice got their hands on high-resolution renders of the phone from a "trusted source." The foldable device will reportedly come in the new Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze colours. And it'll feature the same book-like, folding mechanism of the original Galaxy Z Fold.

But now Samsung drops the camera notch for a punch-hole, for both the inner 7.7-inch Super AMOLED primary display and outer 6.23-inch Super AMOLED Cover screen. The external display has thinner bezels, too. Samsung also reportedly worked on the hinge mechanism to make it better than the first-generation model. The triple-camera setup at the back looks similar to the rumoured design of the Galaxy Note 20, which will be launched alongside this foldable gadget on August 5.
