Apple outlines guidelines for COVID-19-related apps on the App Store

Apple is cracking down on apps in its App Store that are related to COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of misinformation. At the same time, it's released some guidelines on what apps related to the virus will be allowed. Credible organizations—such as government entities, health-focused NGOs, and educational institutions—will be allowed to submit apps. And the company encourages developers that meet these criteria to pick "Time-Sensitive Event" on the expedite request form to make sure these get priority for review since it might take some time for App Store reviews.

What the tech giant isn't allowing are those that are meant to entertain (like games) with the virus as their theme, but also, of course, those that spread misleading information. "The App Store should always be a safe and trusted place for users to download apps. Now more than ever that commitment takes on special significance as the world fights the COVID-19 pandemic," Apple wrote in a statement.

If you're on Android and wanted to get dark mode on your Microsoft OneDrive app, then we've got some good news. Microsoft has finally rolled out the option with version 6.0.1 of the app. You can check if you have the feature by heading to Settings and then select Theme. From there, you should have the options: LightDark, or System Default. The update also brings the option to revisit photos taken on the same day from years before.

'Beastie Boys Story' is coming to Apple TV+ on April 24

The two surviving members of the Beastie Boys still have more of their story to tell. And so Ad-Rock and Mike D worked with their old collaborator Spike Jonze on a new live documentary called Beastie Boys Story. The new trailer for the Apple TV+ documentary shows the two Beasties sharing tales about their friendship to an audience at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn last year. The almost three-minute trailer gives us a better look at what the documentary is going to look like.

Beastie Boys Story is supposed to open in IMAX theatres in the US on April 2, but with the current situation surrounding the coronavirus, that might be postponed. It will be coming to the Apple TV+ streaming service on April 24, so if you're a fan, you might want to take note of that date.
