A Motorola Razr screen is peeling right on the fold

Raymond Wong/Input

There hasn't been a lot of good buzz around the Motorola Razr, and a new report shows a flaw in the foldable phone. Input's Raymond Wong reported the Motorola Razr's screen separating from the plastic laminate protecting the display right by the hinge, with a bubble forming between the screen and the laminate. Input has owned the unit for a little over a week.

Aside from being an eyesore, the bubble seems to be causing issues with the touchscreen. The display above the bubble still works, but the middle is "not the most responsive." It isn't clear how the issue happened. Wong said he didn't drop the phone or get it wet. He speculated that it could be because of temperature changes, from using it out in the cold and then back again inside his warm apartment. But we don't know if that could be the cause. Motorola hasn't responded to the story yet.

New Chrome beta brings web-based AR & NFC to more users

The next version of Google Chrome will bring augmented reality and NFC to more web users. The Chrome 81 beta version for Android, Linux, Mac, and Windows adds WebXR support for browser-based AR. It will be a straightforward way to bring AR to users on different platforms without resorting to native apps.

The update also brings with it a new Web NFC framework that will allow mobile devices to interact with tappable objects without needing a native app or system-level features. These features, however, won't be useful until site developers make use of them.

OnePlus wants to get its devices Android Enterprise certified this year

OnePlus has a big goal this year: received Android Enterprise certification for its devices. If OnePlus gets certified, this means its devices can be used by companies who prefer to use only certified gadgets. The Android Enterprise Recommended program now has 139 certified phones on its list, with one category for rugged and one for non-rugged devices. Phones that are part of the program get five years of security updates and have a separate Work tab in the app drawer. There are required specs the phones need to meet to qualify. The complete list of requirements is accessible here.
