Huawei pushes back release of Mate X to conduct extra tests

Huawei’s take on the foldable phone was supposed to launch this month, but after Samsung experienced troubles with the review units it sent out, the Chinese company opted to delay the release of the Mate X. A spokesperson told CNBC that it’s conducting extra tests to make sure the device runs as it should. The foldable phone will be launched in September. Samsung hasn’t revealed yet when it’ll launch the Galaxy Fold.

Samsung reportedly denies July release of the Galaxy Fold

Rumours were going around that Samsung set a July release date for the delayed Galaxy Fold. The foldable device was originally supposed to launch on April 26^th, but after reviewers encountered troubles with test units, Samsung opted to delay the launch of the device to fix the issues. Earlier this month, there were rumours that the company was going to launch the device in July. According to The Korea Herald though, this seems to be false. A Samsung official reportedly told them, “If we are running such a media event this month, we should be doing something by now. Nothing has progressed since the April delay.”

As The Verge points out, this could mean Samsung might just wait for the launch of the Galaxy Note 10 to introduce the Galaxy Fold (assuming that this won’t cannibalize each other’s sales). Back in May, Samsung co-CEO DJ Koh promised that the release of the Galaxy Fold “will not be too late.” But it seems we aren’t going to get a definite release date anytime soon. And Samsung isn’t the only one delaying its launch, Huawei has also pushed back the release of the Mate X from this month to September for more testing.

BMW teases its Vision M Next concept car

This teaser though doesn’t show much of the concept. But we know that the BMW Vision M Next concept is coming, and it’ll be showing off what’s possible for the M-series cars. While BMW’s Vision iNEXT concept focuses on how tech can offer a better, more luxurious autonomous ride, the Vision M Next’s focus is on improving “driving pleasure.” It’s all about enhancing the experience of driving manual vehicles. The attention will probably be on advanced performance driving assists and perhaps improvements on the electric and gas motors.

BMW will be holding a presentation about this concept car this month. It must be remembered that these concept cars will most likely not make it to the market in its current form, but it does show off technologies that we might see in future vehicles.
