Expect at least four (or five) seasons of ‘Stranger Things’

Netflix

With the recent cancellations of Marvel-Netflix shows, one can’t help but think what else is next. For now, we’re getting assurance from those behind Stranger Things that we’re getting at least one or two more seasons. The latest one to confirm this news is actor Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin on the show. He gave an interview to De Telegraaf at the Heroes Dutch Comic Con in the Netherlands and talks about how he’s heard that the “magic number is either four or five.” He goes on to add, “We just finished up three—three is not the last one planned.” Matarazzo talks about how he knows the creators Matt and Ross Duffer don’t want to milk the show for as many seasons as it can. What he says lines up with what the Duffers has said before about the show going on for another season or two. What they’ve been grappling with is whether they’re going with four or five, with the former feeling to short and the latter seemingly longer than they wanted.

Matarazzo describes the upcoming one as “scarier, it’s darker, it’s funnier” with familiar evil from the Upside Down coming back. He adds, “But there’s also a completely new form of antagonization towards our heroes.” What that is we’ll have to wait to find out when the show lands this coming summer.

Apple Music is coming to Amazon Echo devices this December

In a surprising move from Apple, the company just announced it’s bringing Apple Music streaming service to Amazon Echo. It’ll be coming to Amazon Echo speakers starting the week of December 17. When it does come to Amazon, this mean Apple Music subscribers can ask Alexa to play their favorite songs, artists, playlists, albums, and Beats1 radio stations right from an Echo speaker. This integration will launch as an Apple Music skill, which you can enable within the Alexa app. From there you’ll be able to link your account and start listening to Apple Music in the similar way you could services like Spotify, iHeartRadio, and Pandora are integrated into the service.

Disney and Netflix cancel Daredevil leaving two shows out of the original six

Just as news that Netflix is raising prices for subscriptions, we are getting news that the company, along with Disney, who owns the rights to Marvel characters, is killing off Daredevil after three seasons. The move was expected after Netflix canelled Iron Fist and Luke Cage earlier this year and there has been no talk of bringing back The Defenders.

Daredevil has been the best adaptation of a Marvel character on Netfilx and the third season was outstanding in many ways. Disney is focusing on its own streaming service (no news of whethe this will be available in Canada), while Netflix has promised to let The Punisher and Jessica Jones "run their course", it looks like the Marvel Cinematic Universe's time in Netflix is coming to a Thanos finger-snapping end soon.
