Spotify is testing out a new timeline feature to help promote new releases

While helpful, the Discover Weekly and Release Radar playlists on Spotify are rather limited resources for new music. Looking for new releases on the streaming service is somewhat a tedious process. It’s still a couple of taps away and as The Verge points out, these aren’t as attuned to your listening habits (although the redesign of the app for Premium users might be a step in the right direction). But a new feature Spotify is testing out with some users might change that. It could also be the service’s answer to helping promote new releases.

There’s a new “What's New” section that collates new releases in a timeline of sorts. Spotify confirms the existence of this test and says they are “always testing new ways to create better listening experiences for more users, while continuing to find ways to connect artists to their fans.” Whether this gets a wider release is something we don’t know yet. But as a music lover and heavy user of the service, I’d like to see this one for myself.

Guillermo del Toro to direct, produce, and write Netflix’s take on ‘Pinocchio’

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is going to be taking a stab at making his first animated feature film, and it’s a story close to his heart. Del Toro will be directing, writing, and producing Netflix’s stop motion musical version of Pinocchio. The classic children’s story about a puppet who wanted to be a real live boy will be set in Italy during the 1930s, which is a particularly fraught time in the country. Fascism was on the rise with Benito Mussolini consolidating his control over Italy. Del Toro is no stranger to setting his stories against totalitarian backdrops, he’s done so in the past with films like Pan’s Labyrinth.

Daredevil Season 3 proving the right formula for Netflix and Marvel

After news of the cancellation of Netflix and Marvel's Iron Fist and Luke Cage, it seems like the rest of Marvel's shows on Netflix were likely getting the boot. Daredevil Season 3, which picks up after the events of the one and done Defenders series has brought the gritty superhero drama back to basics and it is glorious.

More like a serialized film feature than a streaming show, Daredevil Season 3 proves to be the most engrossing and emotional series yet, with arguably the best cast of characters at their finest form facing unpredictable plot. The pacing, storytelling and emotional twists are only overshadowed by the intense and measured action scenes. All the elements of a great Daredevil story are in place and with each of the protagonists weaving through complex situations. We really hope Netflix renews this series, it is the foundation of the Marvel universe on Netflix.
