Apple iPhone 9/iPhone XC gets pictured ahead of official launch

We’re not quite sure how Apple is approaching the naming convention for the new iPhones coming out at tomorrow’s launch but we seem to be getting a better look at one of the new phones. The “entry-level” 6.1-inch model that’s being called the iPhone 9 or iPhone XC (depending on who you ask) has been spotted in the wild. The back of an iPhone has been pictured (as you see above) and it looks to sport a single camera lens that looks larger than the one on the iPhone 8, so people are inferring that this must be one of the new phones. We’re going to hear more about this device and others tomorrow, September 12 at 10 a.m. PDT.

Some Nintendo Switch games don’t support cloud saves

If you have a Nintendo Switch, we’re pretty sure one of the things you love about it is you can save your game data to the cloud. This means, if for some reason you need to let go of the console or it freezes up on you, you can pick up where you left off with your games. Unfortunately, Game Informer discovered that some Switch games don’t support cloud save. They named Pokemon Let’s Go Eeevee & Pikachu and Splatoon 2. Nintendo reasons that these games don’t support the feature because of things like item trading and “fairness” when it comes to online play.

Nintendo says, “The vast majority of Nintendo Switch games will support Save Data Cloud backup. However, in certain games this feature would make it possible to, for example, regain items that had been traded to other players, or revert to a higher online multiplayer ranking that had been lost. To ensure fair play, Save Data Cloud backup may not be enabled for such games. To ensure that Save Data Cloud backups cannot be used to unfairly affect online multiplayer rankings, the feature will not be enabled in Splatoon 2.” While this seems reasonable, we’re not sure if everyone will be happy with this news. What do you think?
