Android P update rolling out to Essential Phones on Telus and Koodo in Canada

Some joy for Essential Phone PH-1 users in Canada rocking Telus or Koodo SIM cards. The much awaited Android P update has started to roll out and is available via Software Update on the device. Clocking it at around 1.2 GB, the update took me around 10 minutes to install.

Essential Phone now gets access to the new gestrures as well as the overview screen which is now the best way to scroll through open apps. Aside from interface tweaks and battery gains, there is a Digital Well Being feature, still in beta, that will help monitor app and phone use for smartphone addicted users.

Review: No Ruff Sleeps with the Casper Dog Bed

Casper has been a game-changer in the sleep industry. Their investment and research into creating a sound sleep for humans have resulted in great reviews across the board. And gone are the days we have to put aside to “test” out mattresses.

Their 100-day test allows for consumers to really give a mattress a fair assessment instead of the few minutes you spend jumping from display to display. Now Casper has been expanding to include products like pillows, bedsheets and bed for our furry friends. We had a chance to test out a Casper Dog Bed recently with our puppy tester, Harley (@harleythecuriouscorgi) to see if it lives up to the claims.

Waymo opens subsidiary in China

Alphabet company and former Google self-driving project Waymo just opened a subsidiary in China. And no, it’s not to test out its self-driving cars. Huimo Business Consulting Co. (which sounds rather similar to Waymo) is there to work on building a supplier network for the company. Huimo opened in Shanghai on May 22 and according to a filing with China’s National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System, it was set up with 3.5 million yuan (around CA$670,000) with Waymo listed as an investor. According to the filling the subsidiary will focus on logistics consulting, supply chain, and autonomous driving parts and product design.
