Huawei and Porsche Design amps up the best features of the P20 Pro with the Mate RS, including the price

An exorbitant amount of money will need to be shelled out if you’re even thinking about getting the Porsche Design version of the P20 phones. Called the Porsche Huawei Mate RS, this extremely high-end version of the P20 Pro. This one packs in two fingerprint readers, a 512GB storage option, 6-inch OLED screen, Kirin 970 processor, Android 8.1, 6GB of RAM, IP67 rating, 4,000mAh battery with wireless charging support, and no top notch in sight. Of course, you get the Leica co-branded triple camera system you’ve seen in the P20 Pro. But you will pay a pretty penny for this. The 256GB version is priced €1,695 (around $2,700 CAD) and the 512GB version is priced at €2,095 (around $3,300 CAD).

No word yet if this phone will make its way here but it is launching in China, Hong Kong, and Macau on April 12th, and will then be launched in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK. It’s also expected to launch in Southeast Asia in the middle of May.

Huawei outs AirPods-inspired FreeBuds

Vlad Savov/The Verge

It seems the P20 and P20 Pro aren’t the only Apple iPhone X-inspired products Huawei launched. Huawei also unveiled at its Paris event the FreeBuds, which you can easily mistake for AirPods, but it comes in either black or white, unlike Apple’s version. The FreeBuds promise 10 hours of playback when it’s fully charged, which is double the capacity of the AirPods. It also comes with a charging case that with its horizontal orientation makes it look like “you’re putting the FreeBuds to rest in a tiny twin coffin,” according to The Verge. Huawei claims the FreeBuds will offer better noise isolation with its in-ear designs but that has to be tested first, of course. The FreeBuds retail for €159 (around $250 CAD).
