‘Captain Marvel’ brings back three major MCU characters

With Captain Marvel kicking off production, there’s some news coming out of that Marvel production that might excite fans of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Three major MCU characters are making a comeback in this film: Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson, Lee Pace’s Ronan the Accuser, and Djimon Hounsou’s Korath the Pursuer. With Captain Marvel set in the ‘90s, it doesn’t surprise us that Coulson is coming back. It also means we’re getting a glimpse at an earlier version of S.H.I.E.L.D. It was previously announced that Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury is coming back for the movie. MCU head Kevin Feige has told Entertainment Weekly recently that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel is the first superhero Fury ever meets.

The official synopsis for the movie describes it as: “Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.” Captain Marvel is coming to cinemas on March 8, 2019. It’s directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck with the screenplay penned by Boden and Fleck, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Liz Flahive, and Carly Mensch. The cast also includes Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, and Jude Law.

These Netflix shows are being renewed for new seasons

Carin Baer/Netflix

Six shows are being renewed on Netflix and only one of them is a scripted series. The six shows are One Day at a Time, Dope, Drug Lords, Nailed It!, The Toys That Made Us, and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. One Day at a Time is being renewed for a third season and it’s the only scripted show. The other five shows are reality TV-style/documentary-style programming and are all getting their second seasons. It shows that this type of programming is something the streaming service wants to explore as well. One Day at a Time is expected to come back in 2019, while Dope is coming back on April 20. There is no word yet when the other four shows are coming back.

The Huawei P20’s AI features will come to the Mate 10 through Android 8.1 update

For owners of the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, Huawei is giving you access to the additional artificial intelligence-detected scenes introduced in the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. The caveat is you’ll have to wait for the Android 8.1 Oreo update to hit your device. These AI-detected scenes help take the guesswork out of what settings are needed for a specific scene. Huawei introduced six on top of the 13 already available in the Mate 10s, including fireworks, document scan, waterfall, group photo, natural colors, and macro.

But if this isn’t a feature you want, the Mate 10s will also soon get the P20s’ ability to disable scene recognition. This option isn’t available to the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro at the moment. Huawei’s Richard Yu did give a specific timeline though when the update will come to these devices.
