Netflix can’t compete at Cannes Film Festival

Netflix won’t be eligible to compete for the Palme d’Or this year, as announced by Cannes head Theirry Fremaux. The streaming service was able to enter Bong Joon-ho’s Okja and Noah Baumbach’s The Meyerowitz Stories last year, but that was met by widespread protest from French filmmakers. Fremaux claims they aren’t allowing Netflix to compete this year because it refuses to release its movies in theaters and instead on its service or they opt to do day-and-date release so the film can be seen both online and offline. In order for films to be eligible to compete, Cannes needs to have French theatrical releases. However, Netflix can still show their films at Cannes. These just won’t be eligible for the Palme d’Or.

Nest Cam IQ gives owners official wall mount for free

If you’ve bought the indoor version of the Nest Cam IQ recently, you might have noticed that the high-end security camera comes with its own wall mount included in the box. The company recently confirmed via an update in its support pages that the camera gets the wall mount and for those who missed out can get one for free. You just need to get in touch with Nest via its website. Those who request one will get it shipped free of charge overnight but limited to one mount per Nest Cam IQ.

The mount is pretty straightforward with two holes on the left and right for screws to help you attach it to the wall. Four screws are included in the package. Its bottom has rubber padding to prevent it from scratching the wall. To attach to the camera itself, you get the standard 1/4"-20 tripod screw. It also comes with four cable clips to help with cable management.
