Netflix says Binge Racing takes watching shows to a whole new level

Netflix, whi just recently raised prices in Canada,  has given rise to a new kind of fan: the Binge Racer. Accomplishing in a day what takes others weeks to achieve, Binge Racers strive to be the first to finish by speeding through an entire season within 24 hours of its release.

In total, 8.4 million members have chosen to Binge Race during their Netflix tenure, and the only thing faster than their rate of watching is the rate this behavior continues to grow. Between 2013 and 2016 the amount of launch day finishers increased more than 20 times over.

And before you assume that racers are just basement-dwelling couch potatoes, know that for these super fans, the speed of watching is an achievement to be proud of and brag about (we’re looking at you, Anastasia). TV is their passion and Binge Racing is their sport.

Samsung's new Gear Sport smartwatch can control smart devices with a turn of its bezel

Samsung's newest smartwatch comes with a feature that wasn't really highlighted when it launched in August: the ability to control Samsung's smart home appliances. The Gear Sport, a Tizen-powered wearable, is compatible with Samsung Connect, the company's home automation platform to control everything from lights to TVs to door locks. With the turn of its bezel, you'll be able to control the aforementioned appliances. A few caveats to this, though, you'll need a compatible smartphone with the Samsung Connect app and the appliances need to be connected to the same Smart Things Hub or Samsung Connect Home Wi-Fi router.

Samsung works with Google to bring AR tech to its smartphones

Samsung’s newest partnership with Google dispels certain fears that the South Korean company might be taking steps away from Google’s mobile platform. The companies have just announced that Samsung will be bringing Google’s ARCore framework to its future smartphones. ARCore, for those in the know, was previously called Project Tango, which made use of special sensors to make augmented reality apps work on smartphones (like the ASUS ZenFone AR). The framework, though, is focusing on bringing AR to all devices and not just those with specialized equipment. The platform focuses on motion tracking, light estimation, and environmental understanding. Samsung’s newest devices the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, and Note8, all support ARCore. But this agreement means Samsung is looking to inject the platform into more of its future devices.
