A passenger aircraft might have collided with a drone for the first time

The possibility of planes and drones colliding have been present ever since these remote-controlled machines have taken to the air. Unfortunately, something did happen recently in London. The Metropolitan Police in London are investigating a possible midair collision between a British Airways plane that was on the approach to Heathrow Airport and a drone, marking the first time a drone and a major airline have collided. At 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, Flight 727 pilot reported to the police that he believed a drone struck his Airbus A320, which was en route to London from Geneva, Switzerland. The aircraft was hit in the front but sustained no damage and was able to land safely. It carried 132 passengers and five crew members at the time.

"It's totally unacceptable to fly drones close to airports and anyone flouting the rules can face severe penalities including imprisonment," said a UK Civil Authority spokesperson in a statement. "Anyone operating a drone must do so responsibly and observe all relevant rules and regulations. The rules for flying drones are designed to keep all airspace users safe." This incident brings to mind the necessity for creating new regulations around the world regarding flying drones in different areas and situations.

Jony Ive designs unique iPad Pro for charity auction

If owning a truly unique product matters to you, Apple's Senior Head of Design Jony Ive donated a one-of-a-kind iPad Pro to the Phillips auction house to help the London Design Museum raise money for its relocation. The insides of the iPad Pro will remain the same but its looks have been personally designed by Ive. They aren't just auctioning off the bright yellow-backed 12.9-inch model (still made with anodized aluminum), it also comes with a blue leather Smart Cover and an Apple Pencil with a gold band wrapping around the top with an accompanying orange leather case for the stylus (which Apple doesn't even sell). The set is expected to raise between £10,000 to £15,000 (around $18,000 to $27,500).

Ive's had a personal collection with London Design Museum. Before he became a full-time Apple employee, the museum featured a prototype mobile phone he created and he was the first to get the "Designer of the Year" award from the museum back in 2003 for his work on the iMac.

J.J. Abrams hints about Rey's parents in the 'Star Wars' universe

Speculation has been ripe about who Rey's real parents are. The most popular theories are she's Luke's daughter or Leia and Han Solo's daughter, making her Kylo Ren's sister. Stirring up the debate further, Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams left hints about who Rey's parents. He said during an audience Q&A at the Tribeca Film Festival that "Rey's parents are not in Episode VII. So I can't possibly say in this moment who they are. But I will say it is something that Rey thinks about, too."

Of course, this goes against the previously mentioned theories since the speculation is revolving around characters that did show up in the movie. But during an interview with Entertainment Weekly after the Q&A, Abrams clarified that he meant The Force Awakens meant to build up the mystery of her lineage without resolving it. "What I meant was that she doesn't discover them in Episode VII. Not that they may not already be in her world."
