Hot Docs features micro documentaries #shotoniphone

The yearly Hots Docs film festival is on the great draws of Toronto and features dozens of compelling documentary and independent films on a wide range of topics. This year, they are adding alumni-shot micro documentaries that are shot exclusively on Apple's iPhone and cover topics pertinent to the festival.

“With advances in mobile filmmaking, putting iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus into the hands of filmmakers will drive new movements in the short doc space, offering filmmakers the ability to create stunning, pro-level content easier and faster than ever.” says Elizabeth Radshaw, Hot Docs industry programs director.The films were shot on 4K using the Filmic Pro app. Hit jump for more details.

Microsoft Band 2 now $229.99 with $20 discount

Microsoft's fitness focused Microsoft Band 2 is currently being made available for CAD $229.99 with a $20 discount from online and retail Microsoft Stores. The Band 2 is a verstatile and effective fitness tracker. It has 16 sensors including a heart rate monitor and a UV sensor. It is also compatible with Android, iOS and Windows Phone thanks to the Microsoft Health app. While it doesn't run any apps, it does have a variety of built-in functions and can track health based on the type of activity. The Microsoft Band 2 also features notifications, messaging and even has a built-in keyboard to reply to text messages.

Nikon Canada hosts lecture series, contests, and student gallery at Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival

For the sixth year in a row, Nikon Canada is working with the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, which brings in over 1,500 artists in 200 exhibitions and events in the Greater Toronto Area. This year, Nikon has three different activities going on: one is its weekly photo contest, another is lectures hosted by Nikon Canada Ambassadors, and another is a youth project.
