Microsoft Lumia 535 and Lumia 640 XL land in Canada

Microsoft is debuting two of its new handsets on our shores: Lumia 535 and Lumia 640 XL. The Lumia 535 comes equipped with a 5-inch display, 5MP rear and 5MP wide-angle front-facing camera. You get 8GB internal memory with expansion up to 128GB via microSD. If that isn’t enough, you also get 30GB of free storage from OneDrive. It comes in bright blue, green, orange, matte grey, black, and white. Meanwhile, the Lumia 640 XL is a gigantic smartphone with a 5.7-inch display and 13MP ZEISS optics rear camera with 1080p video capture support. Spotify user creates playlist for most of Beats 1 music

Spotify user Peter Bowles is taking on a rather tedious role. He’s recreating most of the music being played on Apples new radio streaming service and putting them into a Spotify playlist. It was inevitable that this would happen. Now, if you just want to listen to the tunes being played on Beats 1, you can check it out. But yes, you won’t be hearing Zane Lowe, Ebro Darden, and Julie Adenuga on this playlist. You also obviously won’t be hearing Taylor Swift’s songs and even the new Pharrell song (which Bowles replaced with “Happy” instead). We’re not sure how long they’re going to keep this up. But this’ll help you see what direction the new radio service is going in with playlists like these. Of course, if you want to check it out through Apple, they've released the playlist curated by Zane Lowe already.

Beats 1 Radio takes in song requests

Want to hear your jam playing on Apple’s new live radio service? Well, you can request for it and possibly hear it through Beats 1 radio’s new Requests segment hosted by Travis Mills. Apple Music’s Tumblr shows the listing of numbers you can call to request a song. Countries like Canada, the US, the UK, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Dominican Republic, New Zealand, Ireland, and Italy can send in their requests. The segment will be playing at 5:00p.m. Pacific Time. We don’t know though if they plan to play the requested songs outside of Mills’ show.

The Olympus Air camera features detachable lenses, smartphone not included

Haven't we seen this before? A camera that needs a smartphone to serve as a viewfinder and controller? While Sony did release the QX line of point and shoots that similarly needed a smartphone to serve as the brains and eyes of the camera. The big difference between that and the Olympus Air camera, is that Olympus is offering a standalone sensor and mount that can use any of the 20 existing Micro-Four Thirds lenses available in the market.

The Olympus Air is going to cost $400 when it ships (preorders are available now). It will feature a high-resolution 16mp sensor, 1/16000th of a second silent shutter and 10 fps burst shooting. Capture RAW, JPEG, & HD movies.
