‘Jurassic World’ breaks opening weekend box office records

It looks like the world has been more than ready for the comeback of our favorite dinosaurs. Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World has grossed US$204.6 million in North America and another $307.2 million overseas, helping it garner a total of $511.8 million in the opening weekend. The film has shattered the worldwide debut records previously held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which was at $483.2 million. This makes Jurassic World the first film to break the half billion dollar mark during the opening weekend.

Know when to drink water with the HidrateMe smart water bottle

Sometimes we need tech to remind us of our biological needs. That’s where products like the HidrateMe smart water bottle come in handy. This Kickstarter project is a Bluetooth-enabled bottle that glows when it wants to let you know it’s time to drink water. It’s smartphone app calculates how much water you need to be drinking based on certain personal details, such as weight, age, sex; environmental conditions, such as humidity, temperature, elevation; and if you link it to your fitness apps, your activity level. If you pledge US$45 you can get the HidrateMe Bottle in the color of your choice. The product is expected to ship December of this year.

Apple's new Upper East Side Store in NY features a bank vault for Apple Watch try ons

There's been a lot of Apple Store news coming out of New York. The iconic 24/7 365 glass cube on 5th Avenue will be reportedly shut down for some renovations and upgrades while moving into the soon to be vacated F.A.O. Schwartz toy store and just over the weekend a new Upper East Side Store opened up

Located at 940 Madison Avenue on the corner of 74th St, a block from Central Park, the stately new store is a restored 100 year old building that used to be a bank. Apple decided to keep various identifying features and has the original bank vault converted into a fitting room for Apple Watch Edition tryons. Apple SVP for Retail Angela Ahrendts, who lived in the area for 25 years, was on hand to open up the latest store (see tweet above). This is the third feature store in NYC, aside from the 5th Avenue Store, the company also has an impressive store at Grand Central Station.

Apple has 454 retail stores in 16 countries and an online store available in 39 countries.
