Workaround for Messages bug in iOS released, permanent fix coming soon

Apple has responded to a recently discovered bug that can crash the iOS Messages app once a particular string of Arabic text is sent. While Apple is working on a permanent fix to this bug, which will likely come once proper testing has been done, the company released various steps that users can take to work around the issue. If you've been affected by the issue, follow the steps below.

  • Ask Siri to "read unread messages."
  • Use Siri to reply to the malicious message. After you reply, you'll be able to open Messages again.
  • In Messages, swipe left to delete the entire thread. Or tap and hold the malicious message, tap More, and delete the message from the thread.

Google I/O: Google opens access to Inbox

You no longer have to scour for Google Inbox updates. Google announced at its I/O developer’s conference that the email client is now available for download from the Google Play and Apple App Store.

The app also now has a much-requested Undo Send option. It also now shows your reminders in Google Keep inside Inbox. And Trip Bundles automatically collates your trip-related emails and highlights the key information you’d need. Inbox now also supports custom signatures and you can enable a “swipe to delete” gesture as well.
