Knog creates flash accessory for smartphones

While smartphone cameras have been improving, the flash units on them still leave much to be desired for. That’s why the likes of Australian company Knog are there to create accessories like the Expose, a dedicated flash unit for smartphones. Expose pairs with your smartphone via Bluetooth. It is built with nine LEDs capable of 130 lumens output. It can last for an hour before it needs to be charged.

This compact flash unit can be clipped onto a keychain so you can always have it with you. Its accompanying app will let you toggle between various modes such as flash, continuous, strobe, etc. You can even adjust white balances and brightness right from the app. Expose costs US$60.

Apple blacklists abusers of iTunes App Store refund system

Being able to refund app purchases on the iTunes App Store is a good way to stave off any buyer’s remorse for unwanted apps. However, some people seem to be abusing the system and Apple will have none of it. The company has started to blacklist customers they think are looking for a loophole around the policy.

The users who have asked for too many refunds will now get a message that says: “I acknowledge that if I downloaded this app within fourteen days of tapping ‘Buy.’ I will no longer be eligible to cancel this purchase.” This means you can either don’t download the app or pay for it but they won’t be able to get their money back. They didn’t say how many times you ask for a refund before they blacklist you or if it would be a permanent or temporary thing. What’s sure is that you better not try any funny business with Apple.

The iPhone can really be credited for jumpstarting the modern smartphone age. While there were multi-functional smartphones before that that could access the Internet, make calls and take pictures, none of them really pushed the idea of multi-touch as well as powerful handheld apps.

BlackBerry’s Twitter account gets caught tweeting from an iPhone

Social media blunders happen to the best of us but famous people and big companies usually suffer from the consequences more. The Verge caught a little booboo from BlackBerry’s Twitter account. Whoever’s handling the account tweeted about keeping the BlackBerry conversation going while using an iPhone. Oops. The tweet has since been deleted but this is definitely a case of think before you tweet.
