Twitter will keep Twitpic domain and pictures online as the site closes

The supposed resurrection of Twitpic has officially come to a close. The photo service will be shutting down soon after acquisition plans didn’t fall through. The good news is Twitter will take over the company’s domain and keep the old Twitpic photos online. However, you will not be able to upload new photos. The app has already been taken down from iOS and Android stores. You can still access your account online to delete old photos or export your data.

Night Cable: Your new bedside companion

A lot of the smartphones and tablets offered these days fall short in the battery life department. These leaves us with charging duties at the end of each night. But what if you want to use your device in bed while it charges? You can do that but cables aren’t usually long enough for you to lie comfortably away from the socket. That’s where Native Union’s Night Cable comes in. It has a 3m long cord with a weighted knot that keeps the flat cable in place when you put it up your bedside table. It is available with a Lighting connector for iOS devices and micro USB for Android. The iOS model comes in three colors, while the micro USB model is available in one color option. It retails for US$39.99.

Find out if your Android’s mic or camera is on with D-Vasive

There isn’t an indicator on your smartphone that lets you find out if your camera or mic is on. Now, if this is an issue for you, D-Vasive is designed to allay your fears. The app notifies you if one of the sensors you are monitoring becomes active. It will let you look into the log files to see which app is doing so. The free version of the app will only notify you of the active sensors but if you are willing to shell out US$5, you can block access as well.
