Beta version of Nokia HERE maps now available for other Android devices

Nokia’s HERE mapping app first made its appearance on Android for Samsung devices. Now, the beta version of the app can be sideloaded on your Android smartphone. Those running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher are compatible with HERE. Nokia recommends you have a device that runs on 1GB of RAM or more to make the most of the offline features of the app. What’s unique about Nokia’s offering is it doesn’t need an Internet connection to access apps. It makes use of the GPS on your phone to map out places and those you always visit can be stored in your device.

It must be noted though that since this is a beta version of the app there are still a lot of kinks it has to work out. Plus, you won’t get an alert when an update of the app arrives. But if you want to try it out, you can manually download it here.

Jawbone to introduce new playlist service to let you suggest songs to friends through Twitter

Jawbone is looking to introduce a new music service called Drop. The Next Web stumbled upon the new service through Twitter’s Flight mobile developer conference and its Twitter account that asked attendees to request songs for the event. Jawbone’s Drop account then responded with a link to drop.jawbone.com.

The app will let you choose a song to “drop” as a tweet to a specific user. It will then take you to the Twitter app with a pre-composed tweet. It is currently an iOS app with no word when it’s coming to Android.

‘Hearthstone: Heroes Of Warcraft’ to land on Android tablets before the year ends

It looks like the wait for Hearthstone: Heroes Of Warcraft to hit Android tablets is almost over. Blizzard Entertainment is reportedly planning to release the game before the year ends. Fans who have waited for a while for the game to make it to their Android devices wouldn’t mind waiting a bit more. Hearthstone has been available for the iPad since March.

If you’re waiting for it to land on Android smartphones, it would seem there is a bit more wait for that. Blizzard wants to smoothen any issues that might arise from playing the game on a smaller screen.
