Amazon's Kindle Voyager reinvigorates the eReader market

Amazon's got a new flagship Kindle eReader and it definitely raises the bar for the segment. The Kindle Voyager features a next-Gen Paperwhite display, highest-resolution, highest contrast, new adaptive front light, reimagined page turns, Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + Free 3G options. Despite being the thinnest Kindle ever, the Voyager has the clearest eInk screen with a 331 pixels per inch (more than some smartphones) pixel density. Starting at US $199, this could very well be the best eBook reader in the market right now.

Video: iPhone 6 and 6 Plus go on sale

While we thought that long lines for new Apple products were a thing of the past. We were completely surprised at the turnout today at the Apple Retail Store at the Eaton Centre. While this is the only Apple Store in the downtown core, the iPhone 6's were expected to be sold in various carriers as well as Best Buy, Future Shop and others. There's also been a pre-order system in the works for some time now.

The iPhone 6 line started forming two days ago and by 6:30 a.m. was spilling over to the floor below. By 7:30, the line was snaking around two floors of the mall.

While many people in line were cleary ready to buy the next big device from Apple, it seemed like there were some who were keen on buying multiple iPhone 6's to sell at a profit on eBay or Craigslist. We received word from Apple Store specialists that the iPhone 6 Plus was already sold out and while this was expected since supply was known to be constrained, we didn't think they would sell out within minutes. The 'smaller' iPhone 6 with 4.7-inch display seems to be well stocked in all colours and sizes. For more insight on the new iPhones, check out my reviews (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus).

We're live at the Eaton Centre Apple Retail Store in Downtown Toronto where the lines for the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are snaking through two floors of this large shopping mall. It is the longest line we've seen for an iPhone launch day ever and if the turnout here is any indication of the demand for the new iPhones, then Apple looks to have another blockbuster.

Twitter revamps profiles, gets interactive push notifications for iOS 8

Twitter has readied itself for the arrival of iOS 8 with a new look for users’ profiles. Although, admittedly the new look is meant to replicate the image-heavy web profiles. The new profile still has a cover and profile photo but adds a simple white background to show off your bio. The bio was previously hidden to the right, where you had to swipe to see it. Twitter is putting everything front and center so you can see a user’s tweets, photos, and favorites.

The update also brings interactive push notifications so you can reply, favorite, follow, and retweet right from the notification.
