Review: Mazda CX-5 2015

Text and photos by Don Halliwell

This is no Miata, but the CX-5 has as much Zoom as you’ll find in its class.

The now ubiquitous CUV segment is crowded to say the least. The likes of the Honda CRV, Toyota RAV 4, Ford Escape and Mazda CX-5 (formerly Tribute) have been vying for space in Canadian garages for years now.

This slice of the automotive pie is a huge area of focus for manufacturers. I suspect in part because these vehicles are among the most practical for small families and also because it’s a large volume driver. Hit jump for the full review.

BlackBerry tipped to bring Blend feature to other platforms

BlackBerry has been known to keep their software exclusive to their platform but it seems they are finally learning to open up and their starting with a new feature they’ll be introducing. Called BlackBerry Blend, the function will reportedly let users access their work and personal messages, calendars, contacts, and the like as long as BlackBerry devices are connected. It will reportedly be part of the OS 10.3 update. It is also rumoured they will be bringing this feature to iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. What do you guys think about this? If the rumours are true, is this a feature you think you’ll be using?

Google’s Project Ara might become cheaper with new processor

Google’s modular phone needed a processor that will play nicely with the concept. The tech giant has found something in the form of a Rockchip processor. The company is developing a system-on-chip with modular tech built-in. This will allow you to switch processors on a whim and makes the possibility of having an inexpensive handset come true. But we’d have to wait until next year when the Project Ara prototypes arrive.
