Pinterest gets private messaging feature

Pinterest is looking to keep its users engaged in the site with a new private messaging feature integrated into the service. To access private messaging on Pinterest, users have to start a conversation by sending a Pin to another user that also comes with a message. You can then continue your conversation without using Pins after that. It is also possible to send group messages this way.

Pinterest is hoping this would help users plan events or other things in the future. “This is different from other messaging platforms because conversations are around a Pin and are focused on planning something for the future,” a spokesperson wrote in an email to press. It doesn’t really matter how you plan on using this feature but it would seem Pinterest just wants to make sure you stay engaged on their platform longer.

Samsung and Barnes & Noble to co-host an event in New York on August 20

Samsung and Barnes & Noble previously entered into a partnership to sell a co-branded Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. Now, the two companies want to talk more about this at an upcoming event in New York City that will be held on August 20. The Galaxy Tab 4 Nook will be up on display and it is reported they will also talk about announcements related to their partnership. We’re not sure what kind of news Samsung and Barnes & Noble have for us but we will keep you posted on updates.

Microsoft to end support for Internet Explorer 8 in 2016

Microsoft will end support for the popular and still in use Internet Explorer browser in 2016. Hoping users will take the hint and upgrade to more modern browsing solutions or upgrade their version of Windows. The company has stated that that it will only support the following browser-operating system combinations: Internet Explorer 9 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 Internet Explorer 10 on Windows Server 2012 Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2.
