Sony unveils ‘world’s best selfie smartphone’

Sony’s new device is trying to attract a new market with its new smartphone. The Xperia C3 is designed with a selfie-optimized front camera that they call “PROselfie”. The 5-megapixel front shooter also has wide-angle lens, Superior Auto mode, soft LED flash, HDR support, as well as other software features to help you take your best selfie yet. Sony is also letting you take those selfies easier by double tapping the back cover. The main shooter of the device is an 8MP camera with Exmor RS image sensor and other photo-ready apps.

The other specs include a 5.5-inch HD IPS display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2GHz  quad-core processor, Android 4.4.2 operating system, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage with microSD support, dual SIM support, 4G LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and 2500mAh battery. The phone will first be available in China this August and it will be available in black, white, and mint. There is no word yet about the price or when they plan to release it to other markets.

BlackBerry Messenger takes one step closer to its Windows Phone release

BlackBerry has previously said its BlackBerry Messenger would make its way to Windows Phone this July and it looks like they are inching their way there. The BBM is now available in private beta mode on the Windows Phone store. According to the description, it will be compatible with Windows Phone 8 and 8.1.

A spokeswoman told CNET that they are using the storefront to do closed internal beta of the app and that they plan to extend that to a wider external beta in the coming weeks. She said that those who would be interested in participating in the external beta should keep their eye out on BBM’s blog.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 update improves battery life

Microsoft has just released an update for its Surface Pro 3 tablet to expand the usability and stability of the device. In this first round of updates, the company claims it will improve the battery life of the tablet. It not just reduces power consumption but improves the system’s stability as well as reliability and efficiency even in low power states. It also lessened power consumption by wireless network controller and Bluetooth in low power states. The Type Cover firmware has also been updated to boost the trackpad’s reliability.

Video: Apple promotes inclusion inspiring innovation in moving Pride video

Apple's released a video of their first ever Pride parade appearance as a company. As described, "On June 29, thousands of Apple employees and their families marched in the San Francisco Pride Parade. They came from around the world — from cities as far as Munich, Paris, and Hong Kong — to celebrate Apple's unwavering commitment to equality and diversity. Because we believe that inclusion inspires innovation." Participants wore a colour-free Apple logo on their shirts as well as distributed iTunes Cards to participants in the parade.
