MediaFire offers 50GB free storage for new desktop app

File hosting site MediaFire takes an aim at Dropbox’s market with a new desktop app for Windows and OS X. MediaFire Desktop allows you to upload and share files directly from your desktop and gives you 50GB of free storage. However, CNet claims the maximum individual file size is set at 200MB and allows drag-and-drop uploading instead of syncing. It is important to note that if you won’t be uploading videos, then the file size cap should just be fine.

Apple debuts Apple Store for iPad

Apple wants to make it easy for you to shop for, well, more Apple devices through your iPads. The Apple Store for iPad gives you high-resolution photos of the different Apple products and allows you to swipe, tap, and pinch to browse or buy said devices.

You can view product categories from a top menu that disappears as you browse. You can also search for items and purchase items and arrange for store pickup or home delivery. The app also updates you with information about workshops and events in the nearest Apple Store to you or helps you make an appointment with the Genius Bar.
