Nintendo Canada to hold largest Pokémon gathering

In time for the worldwide release of the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, Nintendo is hosting a large fan event and launch at the WestJet Stage at Harbourfront Centre, Toronto on Friday, October 11 from 3-9 PM. The game developer gives local fans a chance to play the new game before it hits the shelves on Saturday, October 12. 

They also encourage you to bring your own Nintendo 3DS or DS and favorite Pokémon titles to touch base with other fans of the games. There is a limited commemorative giveaway to celebrate the launch and if you show up as your favorite Pokémon or Trainer, there’s a chance you can take home a Poké Ball Game Case. If you’re not in the Toronto area, you can participate in gatherings held at other areas.

KakaoTalk and Game Insight partner to bring mobile game to mobile chat app

KakaoTalk has teamed up with game maker Game Insight to launch 2020: My Country for Kakao. The strategy game works in the same vein as Sim City and other city-building games. It is available for download on Apple App Store and Google Play Store.  

There is no definitive word yet on what other titles Game Insight plans to release on KakaoTalk but we’ll keep you updated on any developments.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Samsung has had a heck of a run with its Galaxy Note line of devices. What started out as the 'phablet' smartphone sideshow in 2011 with the original Galaxy Note and Note II, has given birth to one of the most competitive areas in mobile today. Large smartphones are now a bona-fide category. Samsung's Note line is a premium sub-brand that is a hot seller and has expanded the S Pen-capable tablet line to 8 and 10-inch variants.

In many ways, the Galaxy Note is Samsung's true flagship product and great differentiator. The Galaxy S smartphone line will continue to be popular but the recent updates have been incremental and iterative at most. The Galaxy Note 3 looks and feels like a more inspired device in form and function.

BlackBerry Z30's no contract price will cost $700 

The BlackBerry Z30 flagship, which comes to market on October 15 is expected to cost $700 outright. Coming to Bell, TELUS and MTS on the aforementioned date, the Z30 is BlackBerrys attempt to attract phablet users and features a 5-inch Super AMOLED display, a  new 1.7 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB RAM, an 8MP rear camera, a 2MP front-facing camera and a large 2880mAh battery that's said to last for 25 hours. Stay tuned as we review the Z30 in the near future as well as for the contract pricing once it is revealed.
