Happy 50th, cassette!

If you show it to the young ones today, they would not know what it is. But for those old enough to know what a cassette tape is, today’s a day of commemoration as the cassette celebrates its golden anniversary. Philips, the innovators behind the compact cassette technology, wants to remind us what role these tapes played in our lives. Unlocked version of Apple's iPhone 5c now available for pre-order

Today's the day to pre-order the new iPhone 5c in time for the September 20 release date. Apple Canada is taking orders for the green, blue, yellow, pink, and white models in either 16GB ($599) or 32GB ($719) capacities. These will be unlocked versions that can be used on any supporting carrier. Apple cites delivery times for pre-orders placed today at around 9/20-9/24. If the gold, silver or space grey  colours of the flagship iPhone 5s are more your thing, you'll have to wait until September 20 to order or join the lines at Apple Retails stores and Canadian carriers.

Canadian Carriers now have their pre-order pages up. Rogers, Bell Mobility and Telus. Telus is the only one with pricing right now for the iPhone 5c, which starts at $129.99 for the 16GB version on a two-year plan and $229.00 for the $32GB version on a two-year plan.

Update for Google Drive for Android adds new color theme and buttons

Google has updated the Drive app for Android with a few minor changes, including a lighter color scheme that will supposedly make viewing content easier on your peepers and new icons at the bottom of the user interface to make it easier to upload, create, and scan documents. According to Google, there are also the usual stability and speed improvements added in the update. Google Drive can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store.
