Opera releases Coast the iPad-only browser

Opera Software wants to redesign the look of mobile browsers (and perhaps browsers in general) with its new iPad-exclusive Coast browser. The new browser isn’t as unrecognizable as you would think. Actually, when you look at it, it resembles the home screen of an iPad with sites appearing as app-icon kind of squares and selecting said squares leads you to the sites.

Keeping with iOS philosophy, it is a single-pane kind of experience with a single site taking up the entire screen. You would have to return to the home screen or use a discrete page switcher to jump from one website to the next. The company hopes this move would make browsing the web feel like viewing distinct apps instead of having one application with separate pages. You can download the browser for free on the iTunes App Store.

Google+ now automatically share Blogger posts

If you’ve linked your Google+ to your Blogger account, Google now automatically shares new blog posts publicly on its social network as soon as the post is published without additional clicks. Google justifies this new integration not only to save you time but also to help get the conversation going and expand your blog's audience and engagement by automatically resharing your content. If you want to opt out of the feature, you can change your preferences in the Google+ tab on your Blogger Dashboard.

Vimeo entices filmmakers with new On Demand features

Video streaming site Vimeo has found its niche among independent filmmakers and is adding more features to attract these creators to use the site. Aside from offering funding for TIFF entries earlier this month, Vimeo’s On Demand video distribution platform added new pricing options and tools to help content creators make more money. Viewers can now buy (stream and download) or rent (stream only) videos at different prices. Creators can drum up publicity for their movies with preorders and when they log into their Pro account, they get a new dashboard featuring viewer statistics.
