Microsoft Tag to take a dirt nap on August 15, 2015

Microsoft's proprietary QR and bar code clone, Microsoft Tag, is going to go the way of Clippy, Kin and Zune on August 15, 2015. While Microsoft's Tag standard was once heavily promoted, the general failure of QR codes in general didn't help it at all, so the company is wisely shelving it.

Microsoft retiring Zune Marketplace on Aug. 22

Joining the impending demise of Microsoft Points, the Zune Marketplace is also going to be retired by August 22. Microsoft posted a FAQ on the Xbox site talking about the upcoming changes and encourages its users to use up their remaining points as there would be no use for them past the 22nd. For future service, Microsoft wants users to turn to Xbox Music and Video.
