First Impressions: OUYA Open Source gaming console

I was interested in trying out the $99.00 OUYA console mainly because it pushes a daring paradigm for gaming as a whole. The tiny Android-based device leverages open source systems, cloud computing and an independent game publishing model that sounded refreshing and felt like a new direction worth pursuing.

Android 4.3 now rolling out OTA to Canadian Nexus owners

Just a day after being officially announced by Google, it's being reported that Android's latest update - 4.3 - for the JellyBean firmware is been released to Canadian Nexus owners via an over-the-air (OTA) update. This includes those using the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 respectively.

TomTom renews contract with BlackBerry to remain the default mapping engine for BlackBerry 10

In a move that should surprise no one, TomTom has announced that their agreement with BlackBerry has been renewed, thus maintaining their mapping engine as the defacto for the BlackBerry 10 OS (Z10 and Q10 respectively in North America). 

“Having accurate and up-to-date traffic information integrated in BlackBerry Maps is an important feature for customers, and TomTom is a recognized leader that provides traffic data to many companies in the market,” said Adrian Gould, VP of Handheld Software Product Management at BlackBerry. “We are pleased to expand our relationship with TomTom in support of BlackBerry 10 customers.”

Gear up for YouTube Geek Week

For the love of all things considered geeky, YouTube is hosting its first Geek Week this coming August 4 to 10.

This virtual seven-day event will have different channels hosting various themes. It’ll kick off with Blockbuster Sunday, Global Geekery Monday, Brainiac Tuesday, Super Wednesday, Gaming Thursday, Fan Friday, and Best of Geek Week Saturday.
