BlackBerry PlayBook update 1.0.5.2342 now available, fixes Flash issues

BlackBerry PlayBook owners should look out for a new 1.0.5.2342 software update (278MB) that specifically fixes an issue with Flash 10.3 that affects a number of devices across platforms (tsk, tsk, Flash). RIM has turned this around quite quickly and this is a good sign that they're on top of the software end of things. We just installed the 1.0.5.2342 update on our PlayBook and have not noticed any improvements or extra features but we will keep testing.

Motoring: Mitsubishi's i-MIEV EV sells in Canada, starting at $33,000

Canadian drivers jonesing to lower their carbon footprint and go all-electric now have a 'somewhat' affordable (in the long run?) option. Mitsubishi's i-MIEV electric vehicle. One of the first all electric vehicles to ship in Canada, the i-MIEV features 135 kilometer targeted range on a full charge as well as a top speed of 130 km/h. The cute as abug I-MIEV can be charged a household power source (AC120V, 240V), or in 30 minutes with a quick charger (DC360V). The base model starts at $33,000 while the premium package with leather steering wheel and shift-knob, alloy wheels, a 350 Watt audio system and navigation clocks in at a $35,998.

The Apple Beat: iOS 5 grows up, raises the bar even higher

Monday's WWDC Keynote was such a flurry of announcements that it was all to easy to miss the magnitude of the revelations for current iOS users. Apple clearly put the user experience front and centre and aside from the usual performance and functionality enhancements we've come to expect from an iOS update, there are a number of upcoming features that stood out.

San Francisco, CA- Next@Norton is an annual meeting and product showcase that covers the latest security threats and trends, Symantec's new products and directions as well as gives tech journalists a chance to have first-hand access to developers, engineers and product specialists. This year's event was held in the W Hotel in Downtown San Francisco. An extensive day-long meeting composed of presentations and Q&A sessions revealed a number of interesting trends in today's security landscape, here's some of what we learned.
